Down with viral for a couple of days, did not manage to get adequate sleep. Wondered what makes us stay awake or sleep. Glanced through some old notes and Googled to find the cause—the Hypothalamus that resides in the lower part of the brain. Hypothalamus not only manages wakefulness and sleep, but also regulates body temperature and performs host of other functions. So next time, you lose sleep, don't blame people or situations around, blame the Hypo........instead.

Being Kind

Back to blogging! Wondering what to write on with so many events, issues, developments, and yet another election season. A few lines on being kind. Being kind is good. It is an essence of being human. Notwithstanding one's social or financial status, we all offer and receive kindness in some form. At the same time, the way we offer it can make a lot of difference. We may consciously or unconsciously create a differentiation. An impression of superiority does not gel with being kind.  Wishing all a great year ahead.

Full Moon

Six in the evening, clouds hovered over the sky, waited for the rain, but it chose not to come by, thoughts gathered in my mind, and feelings passed by, closed my eyes, and tears fell by, waited for the rain, but it chose not to come by,
clouds cleared as hours passed by, and full moon chose to lit the night sky,
thoughts gathered in my mind, and feelings passed by,
closed my eyes, and tears of joy fell by,
waited for that evasive rain, but nature chose to help me glow in the moonlight,
gazed at the sky, and chose not to let the moment pass by.

It’s beginning to dawn, there is silence and calm, the chairs are empty, the park remains deserted, very soon though, the silence will disappear,  people will stroll through, and there will be hustle and bustle, the listlessness will return at noon, as crowds disappear, the evening will bring a fresh breath of air,  the park will come alive as little kids jump and play around, then as the dusk arrives, young and old will occupy the chairs,  the fountain will sprinkle water again, and trees will glow in the park light,  then gradually as the night sets in, people will return to their homes, silence and calm will be back, and the park will rest in peace,  waiting for a fresh new day, and another round of hustle and bustle.

The Aam Aadmi and the Conundrum of Choice

2013 is drawing to a close, but the election season has just begun in India.
Politicos are facing the Aam Aadmi conundrum. While some acknowledge it openly, others are loathe to admit it. On the other hand, the aam aadmi is facing the conundrum of choice between the untested, so-called wave, mixed bag politico, and the newly introduced non of the above (NOTA). We can't underestimate either of them. The last option may not be so effective, but it can result in close contests. Lot can happen in the run up to the parliamentary elections scheduled next summer.
So, where does the Aam Aadmi stand? Aam Aadmi will expect change or may even force a change. If the hopes are not met, the aam aadmi will continue to earn the daily bread and face up to the challenge with a feeling of déjà vu of once again been fooled.
We can only hope or may be its up to each one of us to ensure that the we, the aam aadmi, are not left in despair.
